I finally got around to this one and I love this picture – I’ve been wanting to find a great story for it. This cafe was fun for me to write, I thought it’d be some enchanting meeting for love, but it took quite a different turn. I think Caleb is in for more than he bargained for. What do you think?
Read mine below and feel free to leave a comment. Enjoy!
MISCHIEF (158 words)
Mischief was in the air—Caleb could taste it when he sat in the outdoor café.
Yelling and crashing plates broke the quiet. The café’s few patrons looked up then ignored it. A handsome man with ruffled hair tumbled out the door.
“I’d stay away from her.” Then he walked off.
A woman appeared, red hair and blazing green eyes. “What’re you looking at?” she snapped.
Startled, Caleb returned to his paper. Hours after the morning and lunch passed, the red-haired fireball reappeared with two coffees. “Sorry about—”
“I’m sure you had your reasons.”
“Kyra.” She gave him a coffee. “A peace offering.”
Caleb chatted with Kyra and with each minute he liked her more. The way she licked her lips before she sipped her coffee. Or the way her eyes brightened with mischief when she spoke. All Caleb knew was he’d never be able to heed that man’s warning. He did care and wasn’t staying away.
