It’s week thirty-four of the flash fiction challenge by Flash Fiction for Aspiring Writers, check out their blog and join in or read others’ posts and be inspired.
I’m horribly late for this challenge but I hate to lose out on some flash fiction, so I’m writing anyway just for the fun of it. But you should check out their blog because every week is a new prompt with great flash fiction to read.
Read mine below and feel free to leave a comment. Enjoy!
I’M WITH THE BAND (150 words)
Bodies swayed in rhythm to the bass and strobing lights. Cadence and Laini wove their way past the bar and immersed themselves into the sea of people.
“How’d you hear about this band?” Laini called as the song ended.
Cadence waited for the cheers to die and shrugged. She tugged her friend through the crowd until they muscled their way to the front, earning them a few glares.
“Holy crap, the lead singer is hot!” Laini nudged Cadence.
Blond hair wild and loose and a devastating grin, the guy crooned a love ballad as his eyes danced with amusement—every woman around them crying for his attention. Until his gaze fell on Cadence. He winked, sending a flurry of excitement and desire through her body. She wanted him—what woman in this room didn’t?
“Why is he staring at you?” Laini asked as the audience sang along.
“Because we’re dating.”
