Time for the Sunday Fiction Post-up! Come share your current work-in-progress here. So sorry everyone, I never forget or schedule in advanced, but too much on my plate right now. Yikes, I can’t believe it! Hope you all have something to post this late in the afternoon.
I invite you to post your title, genre/sub-genre and about 100-150 words starting on the last paragraph of page 55. I know I have a few non-writers, so you may also post an excerpt from your current blog post-in-progress. No need for critique, just a little writer love.
Here’s mine :
I groan and close my eyes, scrubbing them with the heels of my hands. Bits of sand scratch my eyelids and I realize my uniform isn’t the only thing covered in dirt. I should leave to clean up before lights out, but I want to savor the night and fresh air—with guard and armory duty I may not get a chance for some time. So I lie back down and pretend Ryu isn’t there. Maybe he’ll leave.
“I’m glad I followed you,” he says.
Not. A. Chance. I force out an annoyed exhale and hope he realizes he’s not welcome. But subtlety isn’t his forte, using it or recognizing it, and this realization is confirmed when I hear scuffling across the rocky peak. I open my eyes and Ryu has taken up residence next to me, supine with the moonlight shining upon his closed eyes. I glare at him as if he can see me, and he slides his opposite arm behind his head, settling in. “You never answered my question. What are you doing here?”
Have a great Sunday! And Write on!
